Wider Horizons – How We Have Sex Today
Today is an exciting time. The advent of PREP, medication to prevent HIV transmission, and undetectable viral loads (in HIV+ people), making transmision unlikely, is changing the way that gay men have sex. After 30 years of being told that a condom must be used every time, these two new strategies along with other existing practices have the potential to revolutionize the ways we have sex and relate to eachother.
Using the colorful repetitive design of my Means of Survival series, this piece is also an homage to the graphics of activist and safe sex poster art. The image employs common terms used to denote unprotected sex, and serosorting (sex with someone of the same HIV status).
